German nuclear provisions ’are Eur30 billion short’ : report

German nuclear closure and cleanup provisions are Eur30 billion ($33.93 billion) short of necessary levels, German magazine Der Spiegel reported Tuesday, citing the preliminary findings of a stress test commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Economics.

The findings indicate that nuclear power plant operators in Germany (RWE, E.ON, Vattenfall and EnBW) have insufficient funds to cover future costs.
