Egypt is to build its first nuclear power plant in the north of the country with Russian support.
The 2 governments signed an agreement to this effect in Cairo on Thursday. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi attended the ceremony.
Under the deal, Russia's state-run firm will build the plant that has 4 reactors in Dabaa on the Mediterranean coast over a period of 12 years.
