The lowest nuclear generation figure since June, combined with a cold-weather forecast for next week, sent France’s prompt power prices to fresh highs Friday, said traders.
Power for Monday delivery in France closed at Eur75/MWh in base and Eur92/MWh in peak by midday Friday. This was the contract’s highest level since March 11, according to Platts data.
"It’s a bit of an end-of-the-week panic," one trader said. "No one wants to be short next week."
