A total of 84.1 percent of Chileans reject the construction and operation of nuclear energy facilities in the country, according to an opinion poll published on Wednesday.
The poll was taken by local consultancy group Ipsos after the March 11 great earthquake in Japan, which has caused a nuclear disaster in the Asian country.
Only 12.4 percent of the people polled said they support nuclear energy.
Some 61 percent of Chileans also reject the establishment of hydroelectric plants, (…)
