UK Environment Agency says may approve new nuclear reactors

The Areva EPR and the Westinghouse AP1000 nuclear reactors could be granted statements of design acceptability, the UK Environment Agency said Monday.

However, the agency, which is reviewing the potential environmental effects of operating the two reactors in the UK, has launched a public

consultation on its findings before reaching its conclusions. The public consultation will run through October 18.
